Same Day Crowns CEREC

The Benefits of Same-Day CEREC Crown Treatment

Traditional dental crowns have been used for years as a restorative dental treatment. Dental crowns can correct problems with weak, decayed, or damaged teeth to restore your smile and spare you from tooth extraction. At Summit Dental of La Mesa, we provide dental service to residents in and around Kensington, California, Drs. Richard Evans and Christine Allen can maximize your procedure by offering same-day dental crown treatment using CEREC technology. CEREC crowns use computer-aided designs and manufacturing to create a custom crown in one dental visit.

Benefits of Same-Day CEREC Crown Treatment

CEREC dental crowns can help restore your teeth’ health, appearance, and quality. By placing a crown over a tooth that has suffered severe decay or injury, your dentist can protect it from further damage or breakage. The process of creating and applying a traditional crown to a tooth could take several weeks. With CEREC technology, this time frame has been reduced to one day, enabling you to get same-day crowns.

CEREC crowns are more advanced technologically than traditional crowns.  CEREC crowns eliminate the need to make uncomfortable mouth impressions or wear a provisional crown until your permanent crown is made. Our CEREC crown treatment can be completed in one dental visit so that you can walk away with beautifully restored teeth. CEREC crowns can last up to 15 years with good oral hygiene. By taking good care of your teeth, you can avoid future dental issues with this treatment.

Are You a Candidate for a Same Day Crown?

Same-day CEREC crowns are a great option, but there are times when place a permanent crown on immediately is not the best treatment.  If your tooth has a visible crack in it and you have sensitivity biting occasionally, or it has extensive decay, having a temporary crown placed can confirm you do not need a root canal before placing the permanent crown.  Otherwise, if a root canal is needed to save the tooth, a hole would have to be drilled through your permanent crown to do the root canal. This happens In unseen circumstances but we at Summit Dental of La Mesa want to avoid having to do this as much as possible.
